Mystery Lake (E121°43´, N24°26´) is located within the Nanao Hardwood Nature
Reserve, in northeastern Taiwan. The lake locates at an altitude of 1,100 m a.s.l. in a prevalent
fog belt, and it covers an area of ca. 1.5 ha. It is a shallow lake, with depth less than 2 m, and
it is in the late phase in its development. The forest surrounding the lake was comprised
primarily of well-preserved hardwoods
The 4WD vehicle is necessary to get to the start path entry of Mystery Lake Trail
