We will be meeting at 11am in the Chalet parking lot and spend a
few hours enjoying the area, then have a meal at 3 pm.
We have rented the second & third floors of the chalet for
the night. The chalet has three floors with the first floor being
used by the ski patrol/search & rescue folks. The second floor
is the gathering/eating area and the third is set up for communal
style sleeping. (2 pm check in/ 12 check out) The chalet comes with
heaters, electricity and bathrooms. You are responsible for cooking
utensils and bedding......if you plan on staying the night
There is no cost to attend this event or spend the night in the
chalet. Just remember there is only room for 20 overnighters
Depending on snow in parking area, there might be room for RV`s
or trailers, we will know closer to the event.
We are hoping for a nice bit of snow prior to the
event.........but nobody can predict mother nature. Either way we
will have a blast.
For those who do wish to participate in finding snowshoe accessible
caches, there will be bonus prizes. The prizes will reflect the
difficulty of the cache. Surely there will be more added before the
event, but here's
a list for starters of those that will earn a nominal
prize.
Snowshoe rentals are available at REI.
There is also a deck for gathering and we will bring a gas
grill. We'll supply paper plates, napkins, coffee, hot chocolate
and plastic utensils. You'll need to bring your own meal, side dish
and beverages.
To get to the Chalet, take Ice House Road from Hwy 50 all the
way to the end. The road is plowed and accessible all year round.
The road can tend to get icy, so 4wd or chains might be needed. We
will know more closer to event.
If you plan on spending the night, please let me know as soon as
possible due to the limited room.
