Hellooo!
Ronnie O'Toodle here, all the way from Dublin Ireland.
I got my friend
Happy Humphrey, over there on your lovely island, to place a
cache for me. He asked me to write a few words of introduction and
to explain all about my "Ronnie O'Toodle 8 day Round The Island
Tour" which I done last year with my wife Tillie, and where I first
heard about geocaching.
Now, I did keep a diary when I was over there but I've mislaid
it. When I get it back I'll write a better report. HH told me I
left the darn thing on the IOM at North 54 degrees 06.something,
West 4 degrees 45.something else but I wasn't really listening so I
forgot to note down the other numbers. It doesn't matter anyway
because he went and picked it up for me when he placed the cache
there. He's kindly copied the diary out onto a web page for me - I
must look it up!
Never mind, at least I've still got our itinerary (but only
because Tillie - my wife - kept it in her handbag). I even have a
note of Tillie's Booking references for the flights across and back
(if that's what "BJ1PSNH" and "BJ1V5EU" are). So I'll fill you in
on the dates of my tour, and let you have the interesting stuff
when I sort it out.
We came across on the 4th August and stayed at a different place
each night. These were;
1. Port St.Mary |
2. Castletown |
3. Douglas |
4. Laxey |
5. Ramsey |
6. Kirk Michael |
7. Peel |
8. Port Erin |
We did have lots of great adventures along the way, and enjoyed
every minute (well, almost) so I promised to help set up a cache on
the island. I hope you like it! The coordinates at the top should
at least get you to the right part of the island, then you just
need to follow what I wrote above (I think).
To HH: I hope I haven't left anything out?
HH: I think you might have, so I'll make this a Mystery cache. The
coordinates you used are actually very inaccurate! But you've left
enough clues to allow people to find it anyway if they refer to the
web pages where I transcribed the diary notes. Manx cachers are a
determined lot so I don't think that it will hold them up for
long...there's a nice FTF prize for someone in there to start
with!

HH: Hi monstermunch, I don't suppose you could take Ronnie off my
hands, he's become something of a nuisance to me lately.
mm: No problem H.H. I've always liked Irish men.
