GEODE STATE PARK
(1,641 acres)
Pack a picnic basket, grab a few friends and head out to Geode State Park for a relaxing picnic in the sunshine. Cool off with a dip in the lake or soak up the warmth of the sun on the beach. Amble down one of several hiking trails or follow the main trail from the north end of the lake all the way to the dam.
Check out the mysterious crystal formations within the hollow center of geodes, Iowa’s state rock, in the park office’s display.
Visit the pioneer cemetery along Highway J20 and imagine riverboats floating along the Skunk River and how it felt to be one of the first settlers to call Iowa home.
