Located on a former USAF Pinetree Line Early Warning Radar Site.
This Cold War era base was code named "Breadcorn" and operated by
the 108th and 642th Airborne Control and Warning Squadron (ACWRON).
The base is a few kilometers from St. John's.
The cache is a ice cream container and is fairly well camoflaged
but not to the point where you won't see it if you're close enough.
You can park by the gate leading to Red Cliff. There are two
approaches to the site. The first is to follow the gravel road and
loop around to get to the cache. The second route is faster and
more direct but more difficult due to the change in elevation. Park
by the gate and walk back up the road you drove in on a hundred
feet or so and you'll see a trail on your left that goes up the
hill. The view is amazing around here. 500 foot cliff and the North
Atlantic. Take your camera. Check out www.pinetreeline.org for pics
and info of site. Please put the cache container back where you
found it when you're done. If container is not in the right place
and you know where it should be, I kindly ask that to put it in
it's proper spot. Also, please remember to close the container
securely. Thanks.
