This is a letterbox, there are no trade items.

The coordinates take you to the box. (See directions below if you want to do this one letterbox style)
Small camouflaged lock n lock container.
Just a short walk on an urban trail on the outskirts of the Hanlon Creek Conservation Area (not a Park, no fees). Spring thaw: were waterproof boots, there will be wet/muddy spots near the trailhead.

Trailhead: N43 30.747 W80 12.377 On Carrington Place, between 2 houses.

This can be a good place to see deer. I've seen 5 in one visit but I usually see one or two about every 3rd visit to the trail.
Look for a white pine (long, slender needles) next to a cedar (flat scale-like leaves).

Directions:

  • Walk along the trail, past the houses on the right.
  • Further along, the trail is flanked by white pines on both sides.
  • You will pass a round sewer grate on your left. At about 345 meters you will see a second raised round sewer grate on your left next to the trail. It's attached to a short cement pillar.
  • Stand on the trail and face the sewer.
  • Walk 11 paces SE (approx. 130 degrees) downhill toward 2 cedars.
  • The letterbox is at the base of a white pine that grows between 2 cedars.
  • Cover it well when you replace it. Thanks.
I have placed my hand-carved stamp in each of the boxes. Bring your own ink (Crayola wash able markers make great ink tools if you don't have an ink pad). If you carry a letterbox "passport"/journal, use the letterbox's stamp to stamp your passport. If you have a signature stamp, please stamp the log book. If you do not have a stamp, leave a drawing (stick figure drawings and happy faces would be just fine you do not have to be a Picasso or a Da Vinci), or a sticker or a fingerprint or pawprint, or try a nature print using a leaf or flower as a nature stamp, and sign the log. Stamps are cheap at Michael's and scrapbooking stores or make your own with an eraser and an exacto knife. Join the fun!

Please, don't take my stamp!

There's another letterbox nearby Rudolph. It can be logged on Atlas Quest. It's too close to Deer Crossing to be logged as a find on the gc site.
  • From Deer Crossing, continue along the trail. Rudolph's letterbox is approximately 2 minutes (approx. 98 steps) down the trail.
  • At 90 meters (98 steps) from the round sewer grate, stop. You should be standing on the trail just as it starts to curve to the right (SW then W) and before you see the roofs of the houses ahead.
  • At this spot look uphill (right NW). You'll see a lone cedar amongst the white pines. It's shorter than the pine it's next to.
  • Walk towards the cedar, 20 paces NW.
  • The LB is hanging in the cedar about 5 feet off the ground.
  • Please re-hide it well, so the casual hiker can't spot it easily.

------- This letterbox is also listed on Atlas Quest

Trying to finish up the series in Preservation Park that we started yesterday. 1st of 4. Trying to locate GZ when we saw some "muggles" watching us until I noticed that the looked like they had a GPS with them so asked if they were geocaching and lo and behold they were!!! It was actually FaithJames that found the cache, thanks to them. and thanks to the owners for the cache.

This was the third area of the day Trekker Princess and I cached for LBHs. A beautiful area. I love the cedars and the trees were wet and dark. The area was surreal. We used the clues as much as we could. We parked and hiked to most of the caches, but we moved just to get this one. Still a nice little hike. All in all, we had a great time. Thanks for contributing to our fun. -SLT
