This was the site of a field post under the command of Colonel Robinson, which was manned during the war of 1812. Lookouts would erect a large cross to signal the Munjoy Hill Observatory in Portland of the presence of British warships in these waters.
Beautiful south west views of Casco Bay. At night, you can see the coastal lights to Portland and on a clear day the White Mountains including Mount Washington.
The cache is a large 4 quart container with a blue lid. containing the usual items. Cache is not located near the cliff edge.
There are many trails used by ATVs & hikers Many muggles frequent the area, known as a local party spot. Please be stealthy, retrieve and hide carefully. A good CITO place. Enjoy the hike & the views! Happy Trails!
