This depot was originally built in 1880 at the crossroads of the north-south tracks of the Chicago-St. Paul-Minneapolis-Omaha line and the east-west tracks of Sioux City & Pacific Line.
After a new brick depot was built in 1910, the wooden depot was moved and used for storage. It was then moved again and sat neglected. In 2007, The Blair Historic Preservation Alliance and the City of Blair moved the depot to this location at Lion’s Park and in 2013, it was restored as a picnic pavilion and historical center. The interior still has a large amount of original beadboard paneling in place and the west section that was used for passengers still has its early pine flooring.
As you sit and take in a piece of history, you can also check out the grain silos across the street that are often flocked with turkey vultures. There is a lot of history in this little town. Take time to explore it!
