Greater Volusia Tennis League, Halifax Plantation
The Greater Volusia Tennis League, GVTL, is an adult tennis league
for tennis club members in Volusia and southern Flagler Counties.
Halifax Plantation participates in several of the levels. While it
appears to be a gated community, it is not and you are free to
drive in and admire. There are about 20 clubs that participate with
about 1500 players in the league. About half a dozen active levels
of play for both men and women are provided as well as several
mixed doubles leagues. Play is mostly doubles as court time at
member clubs can be at a premium.
The cache is a 2 quart plastic green chile sauce container from
New Mexico. You might still be able to smell the green chile when
you open it. Can't find that stuff around here. It has the normal
swag and a FTF buck.
I decided to keep the cache out at the entrance because it is on
The Loop and cachers searching near clubs make people nervous. Like
most of the Plantations, the tennis courts are buried deep inside
and I couldn't get permission to hide a cache there so I went with
the entrance. At Halifax Plantation golf is the big thing with
tennis a bit of an afterthought.
Cache is initially well camoed and plenty of tree cover to
confound the GPSr but I'm sure you will find it. The location was
also influenced by the proximity of a nearby cache.

After pulling to the side of the road I had this one in hand after a short search. Nice large container on a beautiful stretch of road. TFTC.

After wandering aimlessly in the woods trying to get the GPSr to tell us the truth about where the cache was, we finally spotted it right out in the open, not at all hidden. SL, hid better than we found it in the same spot. Thanks Hutch, for this cache....container was nice and dry by the way. Maybe we need to get all our cache containers from New Mexico!! TFTH, SL
