Wind in the Hollow Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

B+L: The area has taken a beating and the correct hiding place has been ruined. The cache apparently went missing sometime this past spring and someone replaced it with a "throwdown" without bothering to mention that they had done so. The crappy container cracked and the logbook turned into a disgusting moldy mess. Most of the people finding this don't seem to mind, but we do.

Throwdowns are just one of the dubious practices that diminish this game. If the cache is not there, there is nothing to log. Seems simple enough, but far too many people are just faking it when they play this game. They are also inexplicably proud of their fake score, which we find both amusing and sad.

I believe this is the oldest physical cache on the island, so it is lamentable to take this one down. Unfortunately, we have no interest in putting any effort into hiding caches, when the majority of finders can't even bother to re-hide a cache properly anymore. So now we put as much effort into hiding them as they do in finding them: very little.

Geocache Description:

On Vashon Island in Burton Acres-Jensen Point Park. This cache was formerly maintained by native Islander and co-hider Jordan.

The park's lush forest of mixed deciduous and coniferous trees contains wetland areas and a variety of plants and birds. It includes walking and horseback riding trails, a boat launch, restrooms, a picnic area, beach access and swimming. Jensen Point has a boathouse housing kayaks, canoes, and rowing shells. Kayak rentals and instruction are available in the summer.

Lucy Gerand, the last native princess of Vashon Island, lived on a houseboat with her husband at Jensen Point, where the park's boat launch is now located.

Cache is a rectangular plastic box. If you find the "wish jar" (a glass mason jar) containing "fairy guest books", please put it back and keep searching.

The reception here is notoriously bad, but the hiding place is obvious.
