Situated in an elevated position in a small woodland,
overlooking the Priest House Hotel.
The Norman Mill Tower of The Priest House on the River, and the
water wheels, are all that is left of a Mill Complex which dates
back to the time of the Doomsday Book, when it was valued at “Ten
Shillings and a Penny”.
The crown owned it until 1581 when Queen Elizabeth I granted the
land to Edward Ferrers and Francis Phillips. Charles I in 1628
finalized James I confirmed the grant in 1601 and crown
interests.
The area became known as “Kings Mills” when, for a brief time,
the power of the water wheels was used to “stamp” coins of the
realm.
You'll pass by Dave on the way to this one, try and pay him a
visit.
You can park at the co-ords given, or at the hotel.
Don't get arrow rage and try to get at this cache from the river
approach, it's very steep.
The terrain is a 3 based on the approach walk, (steep and
muddy), and the path at the top is very close to a steep embankment
that goes down to the river.
Please cover the entrance to the hidey hole with local debris,
to stop it falling out. Many Thanks
