Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Cedarmere, the former home of William Cullen Bryant. Bryant lived in this house from 1843 until his death in 1878. The home is located in Roslyn Harbor, NY just off Bryant Ave. This cache is a "seed" from GC1K9G6 One Degree of Separation - Happy New Year!!! an ODS (One Degree of Separation) cache placed by mmacgown. The cache is a camo'd 35 mm film container

William Cullen Bryant (11/03/1794-6/12/1878) was a noted poet and a long-time editor of The New York Evening Post. His works in poetry include "To a Waterfowl", "The Arctic Lover, "The Future Life ", "The Murdered Traveller", and his most famous work, "Thanatopsis". He has also written some books and articles while editor of the Post. For more information, a Wickipedia listing can be found at William Cullen Bryant . I would suggest hunting for this cache only during daylight hours as most Nassau County properties are only open during that time. There is no gate at the parking lot at this time but, that doesn't necessarily mean the lot is open 24/7/365. Use your own wise judgement. Any other further info can be obtained at the following link: Nassau County Museums - Cedarmeare

Bring your own pen and be sure it can write on Tyvek

1. To have an active ODS cache hidden on ALL 7 continents.
2. To have an ODS cache hidden in all 50 states.
3. To have an ODS cache hidden in a number of foreign countries, by milestone,10 countries at a time. First milestone 10 then 20 and so on. 4. To have an ODS cache hidden in every county in Texas.
More goals will be posted on the One Degree of Separation Forum Pages. Thank you for participating in what is sure to be a noteworthy point in geocaching history.

Congratulations to mmacgown & Dog and Bear for the shared FTF!!

**1/30/09** Be aware that I placed this cache in January and I've been told that I missed evidence of poison ivy (yep, even then). I'll keep an eye on the cache and see what develops in the spring and summer. You may want to bring gloves just in case.
