Dopo oltre un mese dalla mia nota, non ho ricevuto alcuna risposta nè visto alcuna modifica.
Se non lo hai ancora fatto, per favore raccogli ogni eventuale resto del cache al più presto possibile. Se hai intenzione di intervenire sul cache, una volta completata l'operazione per favore lasciatemi un messaggio con il numero waypoint GC relativo al cache. Sarò più che lieto di verificare nuovamente il cache per verificare la sua conformità con le linee guida.

II complesso abbaziale benedettino di Santa Maria di Calena è menzionato per la prima volta in un documento del 1023, anno in cui fu donato alla potente abbazia benedettina dell’isola di San Nicola, alle Tremiti. A distanza di pochi anni è ricordato tuttavia come sede indipendente e particolarmente appetibile, tanto da essere conteso fra l’abbazia di Montecassino e quella di Santa Maria a Tremiti. Segnalato dagli storici come uno dei più importanti complessi monastici dell’Italia meridionale, per rappresentatività tipologica e architettonica, secondo alcuni studiosi una sua prima fondazione risalirebbe aIl’872 e alla volontà di Ludovico II, imperatore d’Occidente. Il complesso include due chiese, di cui la più antica risalente verosirnilmente ai primi deIl’Xl secolo, costruita secondo l’impostazione tipica delle chiese pugliesi con cupole In asse sulla navata centrale e le laterali coperte da volte a botte: ne rimangono grossi pilastri a sezione quadrata e parte delle cupole, in corsi regolari di conci calcarei. La “chiesa nuova”, addossata alla preesistente a proseguirne l’orientamento, fu edificata invece nel XII secolo a somiglianza dei modelli architettonici borgognoni, verosimilmerne da maestranze itineranti che percorrevano in un senso e nell’altro la via Francigena, dove transitavano pellegrini e crociati. Tra XII e XIII secolo Calena possedeva consistenti beni immobili e aveva dato forma a un sistema agricolo e produttivo autonomo che l’aveva resa ricca e potente: pascoli, diritti di pesca sul lago di Varano, ricco di anguille, mulini ed alcune saline, elementi di fondamentale Importanza nell’economia medievale. Del complesso facevano inoltre parte un piccolo hortus conclusus, nell’aranceto, ed un frantoio. Alla metà del ‘400 il complesso fu annesso nuovamente alle dipendenze dell’abbazia di Tremiti e i Canonici regolari Lateranensi subentrarono ai Benedettini, avviando una riorganizzazione delle consistenti prorietà fondiarie e la costruzione di nuovi corpi di fabbrica. Quel che rimane del complesso, per quanto dichiarato “monumento nazionale” nel 1951 è stato parzialmente inglobato in una masseria.

The Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria di Calena is mentioned for the first time in a document of 1023, when it was donated to the powerful Benedictine monastery island of San Nicola, Tremiti. A few years later is remembered as an independent and particularly attractive site, as to be contested between the Abbey of Monte Cassino and Santa Maria at Tremiti islands. Reported by historians as one of the most important monasteries in southern Italy, for typological and architectural representation, according to some scholars its first foundation dates back at A.D. 872 and willingness to Louis II, Emperor of the West. The complex includes two churches, the oldest of which dates back to the early Xl century, built according approach churches typical of Puglia with aligned domes over the central nave and side covered with barrel vaults: they are large pillars square and part of the domes in the regular courses of ashlar limestone. The "new church" to go up against the existing guidance, was built in the twelfth century following Burgundian architectural models, by itinerant workers who walked on the Francigena, where passing pilgrims and crusaders. Between the twelfth and thirteenth century Calena had substantial real estate and gave shape to an agricultural system and independent production that made her rich and powerful pastures, fishing rights on Lake Varano full of eels, mills and some salt, essential elements of the medieval economy. Complex were also part of a small hortus conclusus, in the orange field, and a mill. In the middle of the '400 complex was attached again to the dependency of Tremiti and Lateran Canons Regular to the Benedictines took over, launching a substantial reorganization of land and construction of new buildings. What remains of the complex, as declared national monument in 1951 was partially incorporated into a farm.
