Geocache Description:

On private property, please park on road.

In the 1800's a village called St. Marie was located on the east side of the Fox River. It is believed that about 1840 Irish immigrants began arriving to this area. It was a town of considerable importance, but for some reason it became dilapidated and disappeared. When the village disbanded, the church named St. Mary of the Fountain Catholic Church was dismantled. Some of the bricks from the church were used in a building in downtown Princeton. This cache is located in what "remains" of that village. Although it is on private property, we have permission from the owner to view this historical site. Please be respectful of the area. We don't know if the landowner hunts this land, but be aware during hunting season. The container is a camo-covered cylinder, 6.5 inches tall by 2.5 inches in diameter.
