Geocache Description:

A small to regular size (0.9 liter) cache near the Goodison Fountain in Hampstead Heath.

I encourage caching by public transport. Take the Northern Line to Archway and continue on Bus 210 towards Brent Cross. Exit at stop Compton Avenue / Kenwood. From there, it's about 500m downhill walk to the cache. Bicycles are not officially allowed in this part of the park though.

Hampstead Heath

Hampstead Heath is North London's largest and probably most important green space. The wildest of London's parks has fields to run in, long grass to roll in, woods to hide in and, most famously, ponds to swim in. In north London this is THE place to get back to nature. Strewn with picnickers, cyclists, families and the rest, the heath is large enough and has enough copses, hills and mounds that a quiet spot is never far away.

Goodison Fountain

The Goodison Fountain was erected in memory of Henry Goodison, involved in the campaign to save Kenwood House. In the summer, meadow brown and orange tip butterflies as well as swifts can be found in the meadow beyond. In winter, flocks of fieldfares and redwings from Scandinavia arrive.
The words around the fountain read: "This fountain, erected in 1929 to the memory of Henry Edmund Goodison of Highgate, honorary treasurer of the Ken Wood Preservation council, was presented by his wife and sons".
Not sure about the water quality, but at least it will be good enough to wash your hands if they got muddy from caching... ;)

The Cache

You're looking for an average size, classic clip-lock bock that will hold some swaps and TBs. It's possible to access from "below" (muddy!) or from "above" (thorns!). Please take care to replace the cache and cover it up so that it can't easily be seen.

Take note of the letter and number under the lid for the bonus cache.

Original Cache contents: Logbook+pen, and some small gifts (4 toy cars and a fluorescent paint set).

Wheelchair Users

There's a well packed (but muddy when wet) path to about 30m of the cache. The last bit is not wheelchair suitable unfortunately (steep/muddy/through plants).
