Cache is located in the Sycamore Avenue Recreation Complex in Tinton Falls, NJ. There is plenty of parking in the complex's lot, so please don't park on the side streets or in the neighboring school's lot. Proceed to field #6. Trailhead is located behind the basketball court. Only one trail, which deadends, so you won't get lost.
Uranus is the 8th planet in the solar system, and #9 of 12 for my Solar System Series (which includes the sun/sol). Uranus is known for having a turquoise color, being severly tilted on its axis, and having a thin, nearly invisible set of rings.
Uranus was the Ancient Greek god of the sky. He was married to Gaia, the goddess of the earth. Together, they are commonly believed to be the ancestors of most of the ancient greek pantheon. The Ancient Roman counterpart to Uranus was Caelus, whose name was derived from the Latin word for 'sky'. All of his children were born by Gaia, except Aphrodite, who was born after Saturn/Cronus castrated his father Uranus and cast his naughty bits into the sea. Aphrodite would later become one of the 12 chief olympians.
The planet Uranus has 27 known moons, all of which are named after characters in written works by Shakespeare and Alexander Pope. They are Cordelia, Ophelia, Bianca, Cressida, Desdemona, Juliet, Portia, Rosalind, Mab, Belinda, Perdita, Puck, Cupid, Miranda, Francisco, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon, Caliban, Stephano, Trinculo, Sycorax, Margaret, Prospero, Setebos, and Ferdinand.
The cache you seek is a pvc tube cache, painted brown to blend in to the surrounding environment, and covered by the usual natural camouflage. Both ends screw open/shut. Please make sure they are both closed when you are finished, but don't force them. If you do, they will jam and future geocachers will not be able to open the cache. There is room for small trading items only. Bring your own pen/pencil because there isn't room for one here.
The logsheet is held within a plastic bag to ensure it remains dry even if the cache leaks a little. Please make sure it stays inside the bag and that the bag is sealed before you place the cache back.
You should be entirely free of muggles and their prying eyes back here, but keep your eyes and ears on the look out just in case. You will probably encounter a wide variety of wildlife on the way, however, depending upon the season. I have personally (in my last 3 visits in autumn) seen a red tailed hawk, chipmunks, 3 deer, and a red fox. Please be careful not to disturb their environment by remianing on the trail, poorly maintained by the town though it may be.
No bushwhacking is necessary here - the cache is hidden upon the side of the trail - so just stay on track. The trail dead-ends shortly after the cache, so its best to backtrack to avoid an attack of thornbushes...if you do decide to force your way through, you exit into the sports field of the school neighboring the recreation complex, and then its open fields back to the parking lot.
Oh, and one last noteworthy bit of information. The symbol taped to the inside of the lid may come into play to help you find "Eris", the last (12th of 12) of the planet caches. Since many have not fared well, I have included a photo of all the symbols on the page for "Eris". Please reference it if the symbol has become damaged/missing in a few of the planets.
Enjoy!
