Old Silo #10-Northern Tour
In Wisconsin, United States
How Geocaching Works
It's time for an Old Silos Series-Northern Tour-Old Silo#10. Triple silos.
We loved the old silo series by Mister Greenthumb and Sunshine, so realized it was time for an old silo series up our way-a joint effort between Hearty Soles and Lacknothing. Growing up on a farm, old silos bring back many good memories of days gone by.
And of course borrowed from the original "Old Silo" caches.
Silo Fact: The word silo means 'cellar". Before silos, corn was stored underground in cellars.
Silo Fact: Why are all the silos the same general shape, width and height? It was determined in the 1920's that anything taller or wider would result in too much loss due to mold.
Silo Fact: In 1923 there were 100,000 silos in Wisconsin, the most in any state. NewYork in second with only 54,000.
Please post pictures as you find silos.
