Easy find on a nice trail. This trail has a reputation for lots of poison oak, but the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council trail maintenance volunteers have been pretty effective knocking it back.

The container is a shiny medium bison tube. I hope a pack rat does not get it first.

Bring your own pen.

Almost gave up, but decided to STICK to it. Now we have to walk back thru all the poison oak. TFTC

The sun set while I was walking through Serrano Valley after totally failing to find Ocean View Micro, and by the time I got here, I was mostly concerned about getting through the single-track section and out into Big Sycamore Canyon while I could still walk by ambient light rather than needing my flashlight. So I wasn't going to spend much time looking. Came to a big set of STEPS, oops, that's not the one. Got here and realized quickly where it must be, looked into the darkness and saw a glint.

But after I signed the log, I was seriously into making time toward the main canyon, and didn't even stop to look for the Serrano Canyon Cache or any of the other caches in Serrano Canyon. I made it back to the campground without flashlight, though I suddenly realized about five or ten minutes from Big Sycamore Canyon that I was walking by moonlight rather than the light of dusk. The moon was only half way to first quarter, but that positioned it perfectly to light the trail. I was even able to refill my water at the faucet at the road by moonlight -- I had run out back in Serrano Valley.

Quite a day. Good thing I parked at Big Sycamore Canyon, where one can always drive out, rather than at La Jolla Canyon, where I'd have been locked in.

No photos. The flash would have destroyed the night vision I needed at this point.

ps -- took me a while to figure out what the last two letters of the clue mean, and that was just now and I didn't use the clue to find it. Location matches clue. I don't know if erik fixed it, or someone else fixed it, or if erik misinterpreted the clue.

I found it fine once I ignored the clue, which does not jive with the present location. Cheers.

Out preparing for some trail work next week and grabbed this one as I turned around to go back down the trail.
