This is a traditional cache both in it's size ( 1ltr box in a camoflaged bag) and also in the sense that it brings you to an area of outstanding natural beauty.
This landmark is visible for miles around and historically it was very important. (War - There is a pillbox here ( although sadly graffiti'd since we placed the cache))
It is still important now to many people but for entirely different reasons. (Peace - please be respectful in the woods behind the pillbox as they are Trees of Remembrance)
This has to be one of the most magnificent views in the area, so please choose a nice day to come. It feels like you can see to the ends of the Earth. After you have found the cache, walk on towards the fence where the view is superb.
For those who are interested in Trig Points, there is one nearby at Liddington Castle (one of the many hill forts along the Ridgeway) offering some panoramic views over Swindon and the M4. Please use the permissive path, gates and stiles ONLY and don't take the direct route across any fields or climb over any fences.
As a bit of fun, walk round to the fence and try to find a landmark that means something special to you and mention it in your logs. Ours is the GW Hospital, where Bootsie TB (our daughter) was born.
