“Hot Waters Sidirokastro” cache. A very easy cashe in a very beautiful area.
In the 2nd km of the road from Sidirokastro to Ahladohori you can find the first waterfall of the “Hot Waters” area (Greek : “Zesta Nera”).
2 waterfalls (the one from a human made rocky dam) which are coming from opposite directions are ending into the same cesspool and the Krousovitis River continues its flow underground for about 150 meters.
A 100 meters road and a wooden platform permit the walking so anybody can admire this Nature’s miracle. If you are very careful you can bypass the fence and get onto the Riverbed and walk onto the dam from where you can see the exact point that the water is getting underground into the cave.
This area is the perfect for the “Hot Waters Sidirokastro” cache. The FTF geocasher can find a Beijing 2010 pin -a gift from my cocacher Savvas-, a Greek flag tattoo, a key holder of Xanthi’s local football team (Yes Xanthi city is my base ? ) of course the logbook, some instructions , a pen and an FTF certificate for the First Finder.
I hope you enjoy this very easy cache in a very beautiful location. The whole area is full of beautiful landscapes so if you are around don’t miss it.
I hate to say this but as this is a very "natural" place please be aware of any snake that might had the same idea of you. Its not that I saw any but it is good to keep our eyes open.
