***Updated**** Lopez Canyon Coffee Can Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

SoCalAdmin: Greetings from Geocaching.com

It looks like your cache has been temporarily disabled for a while now and is still under the weather.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If you wish to repair this cache and have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Having caches marked as “temporally disabled” for extended periods of time is very irritating to local cachers because these caches will still show up on their TO-DO cache lists.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the near future.

Thanks for your understanding,

SoCalAdmin

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Lopez Canyon is the quiet twin of Penasquitos Canyon. This is the place to come if you want to get away from the hordes of joggers, mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians that clog the main Penasquitos Canyon path. You might have the narrow trail to yourself.

The recommended starting point is located at N32 54.406 W117 12.434. You'll find a large paved parking area and a porta potty here. The cache is located approximately 1.33 mile from the parking area. Those wishing to cache and dash may find access from the residential area to the north of the cache. The trail to the cache is suitable for children and leashed dogs - mountain bikes are prohibited on all single track trails in the park so it is best to leave them at home.

Please try to limit bushwacking. Navigation through heavy brush is not required. At most you will have to travel through grassy meadows or along a rocky streambed. No digging is required to find the cache. If the cache causes too much disruption of the area it will be removed.

This is Team PL's first cache. We hope we have placed it out of view of the non-geocaching public. Let us know what you think of our first effort.

Thanks to Vagabond for suggesting this area could use a cache.

Update: Looks like a feature of the cache proved unworkable. The cache was placed too close to some poison oak. I don't want to lure anyone into a close encounter with poison oak. The coordinates remain unchanged, but the hiding spot is different than original. A new clue is listed below. Thanks to the first couple visitors for braving the pernicious weed.

Note: now that people are finding it the cache has earned a few more months of existance.
