Geocache Description:

Please read below a brief history of Nipomo, CA.

While at this cache, look across the street. You will be looking at 2 of Nipomo’s oldest buildings. The building on the right is the old Nipomo Barber Shop which was built in 1886. On the left is the First General Store which was built in 1878, known by Nipomo old timers as the “Lucas Store”. The north end of the building was the Nipomo Post Office until the mid 1960’s. It was when the Pacific Coast Railroad came through Nipomo in 1882 that Nipomo started bustling. The Pacific Railway Depot was located at the west end of Dana St. The original Nipomo downtown was along Dana St. from Thompson to the Pacific Railway Depot. Dana St. was lined with hotels, stores and bars. Unfortunately, in 1888, a serious fire burned most of the downtown (Dana and Thompson St) businesses and reduced Nipomo’s commercial area. These old wood framed buildings burned one after another. One old building left on West Dana St. is Nipomo’s first school. It was built in 1887, used for one year then sold to the Methodist Church. It is still standing and used as The Nipomo Foursquare Church. The original Jocko’s Restaurant was north of the feed store on Thompson. It was an old Dining Car with a bar and kitchen attached. On the south west corner of Thompson was the old Tremper’s Garage and Gas Station. Behind the garage were the Nipomo Fire Dept. and the old Nipomo Jail.

You are looking for a 5 x 2.5” green container. Log and pencil inside.

Be extra stealthy so this cache doesn’t get muggled please.
