Baby Goose Cache Traditional Cache

cphug184: Pulled the cache. Time for a new placement. While I was up the hill, two herons battled each other for supremacy. Fun to watch though they were a little ungainly....

Geocache Description:

The baby geese have hatched! Mudlock and I have been sitting on this cache, so to speak, since the geese paired off at the end of winter. But now that there are goslings, we have hidden this micro down by our favorite little storm drain runoff thing (it's pond-like, if you don't pay too much attention), so that everyone will come see them. (They like bread--see gallery, no spoilers. And they HATE DOGS; please keep dogs leashed.)

We really suggest Metroing to this one, but if you're coming from points west and don't want to pay to park in the Metro lot on weekdays (who could blame you), you can look for parking alongside Centerboro Drive--good luck--and, as a last ditch effort, you can park at the school on the corner of Nutley and Marshall (yes, you'll have to use three crosswalks; like we said, we really suggest Metroing).

There's a nice little paved walkway that makes it a good place to go and feed waterfowl in the evenings. If you stay late enough, you'll see bats!

Alternately, come on a weekend, and have a picnic!

(No baby ducks right now, though we hold out hope! There was one, and Mudlock rescued him from down in the storm drain, but we haven't seen him around since then. Maybe MomDuck took him to a different pond, for safety.)

9/1/08- Cache replaced- We would ask that people screw the parts back together very lghtly. Snug is good- tight is bad. Container is shiny and off the ground.

This cache wasn't really intended for night time hunting, or for visits outside of the late-May-through-early-July timeframe. You're welcome, of course, to seek as you please; there's nothing illegal about being there at night or in the winter. We just think not seeing the baby ducks and geese would take a lot of the fun out of it. And the area is a little mucky, late in the summer.
