A micro cache placed on top of mount Dirfys, the highest mountain in the island of Evia.
To reach the location of the cache, head for the village Steni. After passing it, you will start ascending the mountain. Keep going until you reach a turn where there's a big dirt road on your left. At this point you have two options: you can either leave your car here and take a relatively easy path that leads to the refuge after about 30 minutes, or you can continue ascending the mountain with your car on the asphalt until you reach another dirt road on your left with some antennas. That dirt road will lead you to the refuge after some driving. Whatever you decide to do, it shouldn't make a big difference, time-wise. If you can handle it, I suggest you take the path since it's very nice, full of big trees and beautiful colors. Once you reach the refuge, follow the dirt road towards the summit, until the base of the mountain. From there a path starts that leads to the summit. It will take you 1-2 hours, depending on your speed.
Although the coordinates should be fairly accurate, you may want to take a look at the hint (or bring it with you in any case) before going for this cache. You don't want to climb that high for nothing. :-) The cache is a small, black, aluminum canister with only a log book. Don't forget to bring a pen with you!
Please note that although the cache location is on the summit, it is not at the highest point (1743m). To reach that point, you need to keep walking on the path until you see a column, with corners, made of cement.
A word of warning: do not underestimate this mountain. It has claimed quite a few lives, so go well-prepared. Bring with you any necessary clothing (a jacket for the rain/wind, a fleece, hiking boots or shoes), food, water and a flashlight. Take the weather forecast into account and be prepared for strong winds! Also, don't bother going for the cache during the winter, as it will most probably be buried under meters of snow.
