Geocache Description:

Unless you have been sleeping, or you are new to this game (hobby, obsession…), there exists among us a couple of cachers that are about to join the ranks of those Vermonters (um, we mean flask) who have found 1,000 or more caches.

The posted coordinates will only get you to a pull off on a dirt road in Johnson. But it is a nice place to park

When one has found so many caches, there is a need to put out new caches for them to reach their goal, and to that end, we have attempted to make a cache worthy of their 1000th find!

We did a little research and found out that, as hard as this is to believe, even DJ and CAL started out crawling, just like we all did. Here's a little snippet of their very first log:
October 9, 2004
Found it.
Myself and CAL found on the second try.
This was my first Geocaching trip. Saw a big moose cow.
hope to do another this weekend.

Can you imagine these two "hoped" to do 2 complete caches within just one weekend!

Now, many of us stay home next to a warm cozy fireplace with the Christmas tree all decorated in anticipation of Christmas Day, but by Christmas of that same year, DJ and CAL were over the edge and sharing Tupperware buried deep in the snow:
Merry Christmas
this was one of the toughest ones yet. We walked in from where the plow truck stopped. The road was all ice. We slipped and fell twice.
CAL found it easily, but when we got to the cache we had to dig thru a foot of snow. Then, the box was frozen with ice to the rock and to the leaves. It took 30 minutes to dig it loose with several sticks. Had a great time - the challenge is half the fun.

It didn't take long for them to go from the crawl, thru the walk, right into a full run and by May they were logging what we like to call a "Cache-Your-Brains-Out-Weekend":
This was our 19th of a 25 cache weekend.
It was a beautiful day and the bugs were horrible.
CAL found it easily.
Thanks for the exercise

The neatest part about these 2 is that they are truly wonderful people who have always made us all feel welcome; even the youngest of our group. I remember the first time we were caching with them and QGirl stops me along the trail to whisper with a big grin, "DJ talked to me!"

So once again, congratulations DJ and CAL on your 1000th find!!

This is a wonderful hike along a very long trail. It has a pretty good elevation change but the view at the top is well worth it.
Please don't leave the area before you check it out at North 44deg 39.298 West 073deg 43.386

About the cache: It's a multi and, as usual, the final is a regular size lock and lock, the other stages aren't. (hmm, where have I written that before?)
Some things are new, some are combinations of things seen before.
It is our belief that you can not do this cache alone. (Please do not take this as a challenge, we realize that it may be possible, but you will more than likely trash one of the stages.) Please do not brute force any of the stages, all the required equipment is available within feet, so please be patient and think before acting.
As a matter of fact somewhere along the way you will wish you had some 'help'. Once the object of interest is located, with your back to the object, walk 13 paces (what is a pace? I'm not sure, but I counted each time my right foot hit the ground!) at a bearing of 310 degrees magnetic and there you will find some help.

So let's get this thing started. We don’t believe you have seen this type of puzzle before. For some of you the rate of solution can be measured in wpm. So, to get the first stage coordinates you just need to decipher the following:

Vs; upi ,rmyopmrf dp,ryjomh yjr pyjrt fsu yjsy o yjpihjy epi;f ,slr yjod dvts,n;r rsdu gpt upi/ Kidy djogy upit gomhrtd pmvr yp yjr ;rgy smf fp ejsy vp,rd msyits;/ Smf yjr smdert eo;; ,shovs;;u s[[rst/

Note: If you have not yet completed the caches One Great Year and The Bonus, you can start at the parking coordinates for One Great Year and do all three caches from the same spot. It's a nice walk along a long trail. Good luck and most of all HAVE FUN.
