Inside the cover of each Geocache you will find two words. These
are to be placed on the appropriate spaces of a crossword puzzle
found on the Metroparks Geocaching Adventure 2010 Brochure found
here. We will be holding a geocachers picnic at Willow

The cache is located less than 30 feet from the trail so
bushwhacking further than that is not necessary and is discouraged
to reduce impact on the environment.
Bubbling Waters
Along the Aspen Trail to the south-west of the
cache coordinates can be found remains of rock foundations, ruins
of a fireplace, steps and other evidence that people once dwelt
here.
Charles Joseph Antoine Labadie (1850-1933) was of
French-Native American ancestry. Jo, as he was known, became a
labor leader, printer, journalist, poet and social reformer. In
1912 Jo acquired 40 acres of land in what is now part of Kensington
Metropark. The site was named 'Bubbling Waters' after a nearby
brook and this became the Labadies' summer home. Jo built several
structures on the land for the purpose of providing a summer
retreat for working people who could not afford private resorts and
cottages. This venture proved more effort than the Labadies were
able to handle, but they hosted many guests and friends throughout
their years at Bubbling Waters.
Among the buildings Jo built were a cabin, a
barn, a henhouse and a press shop where he worked and stored his
printing press.
When Jo died in 1933 the land at Bubbling Waters
was passed down to his children, Laura, Charlotte, and Laurance,
and in 1941 was deeded to the county to be preserved as parkland.
Today, the Kensington Metropark Nature Center displays artifacts
and information about the Labadie home.

within Kensington Metropark, a part of the Huron-Clinton
Metropolitan Authority park system. A Metropark Vehicle Entry
Permit is required: Annual Permit $25. Senior Permit $15. Daily
Permit $5.
