The Cowley Motor
Works was initially a military college and was taken over by
William Morris 1912 and has been making cars ever since. Cars under
many marks have been produced here, the Morris (Bullnose) Oxford,
Morris Minor, Austin Maxi, Triumph Acclaim, Rover 800 and finally?
the BMW Mini. It has changed name / ownership a number of times on
its journey, from Morris to BMC to British Leyland to Rover and now
the BMW Mini plant. It has had a number of troubled times
throughout its history (notably the 60's & 70's), but is now
thriving, long may it continue.

Once completed you will
find that their are six letters that do not make up part of any of
the given words, it is these that you will need to find the start
co-ordinates. Convert these letters into numbers in the time
honoured way, if it is a double digit, ignore the leading digit
(i.e. 1 or 2). Now from top to bottom, left to right, take the
first three numbers and insert into N51 43.*** and the second three
into W001 11.*** to give you the co-ordinates for the start
location..
You can check your
answer for the start point of this puzzle on
Geochecker.com.
At the start location
you will find a phone number that would be useful if you should be
in the dark! 0800 abcdef. Substitute these numbers for the letters
in the following set of co-ordinates to give you your second
location
N51 43
(d-e)(a+b)(d-c) W001 11.(a+f-b)(c+b)(a*a)
Proceed along the
bridleway to the next location, but make sure you behave
yourselves, BMW are watching you! Here you will find a sign or two
giving you some important information about Roman Way bridge with a
phone number 01793 efegfh. Substitute these numbers for the letters
as before into the following set of co-ordinates to give you your
third location.
N51
44.gh(e+2) W001 11.e(e+g)(e+f)
Proceed along Roman Way
taking care of the traffic, and keeping to the designated area on
the road. It can get very busy with large lorries delivering, and
Minis flying about as they come off of the production line 7 days a
week 24hrs a day. At this location you will find a wooden sign. To
get the final co-ordinates you will need to take the bracketed
numbers in the following co-ordinates and count that many letters
on the sign i.e. if the number is (11) then count to the eleventh
letter on the sign, with me so far? Now substitute that letter for
a number as before i.e. if the eleventh letter is an `L`, then
substitute it with 12.
N51
44.(5+12)(18-1)(3-36) W001
11.(5-15)(29-1)(17+25)
I hope you got all that!
Well now off to the cache, which is a long black plastic tubular
