Geocache Description:

This KDV cache is a series of caches designed to give a tour of the park. This one is the most difficult of the current caches on park. Park at the way point then hike down the road. Do not drive. About .5 mile in take the right fork in the road. One way hike is .92 miles. This cache was placed with permission from Kentucky Department of Parks.
Please do not disconnect the rope from the cache it is there to keep the cache in place during floods.

Gobbler's Knob is an unused portion of the park. At one time this area was slated to become an additional golf course. The road is not maintained and has several deep holes that hold water year round. There are also deep ruts that make the road impassable. Vehicles are not to be taked down this road. Orginally this cache was to be placed below the sign at the end of the break wall. The view from the end of the break wall is worth the few extra minuites walk and provides a great photo opportunity. This cache and the KDV beach View cache are a short distance from each other as the crow flies but the actual travel distance quite a bit longer. Everytime I come to this area I find it a enjoyable reprive from the rest of the park. I can look across the water and view the lodge but listening I can hear the wildlife in the woods behind me. When I placed this cache the water was quite low and I decided to walk the shore line back to view some of the bays on the other side. I was rewarded as I came upon a hawk enjoying a meal. I then picked up an easy path that ran along the edge of the shore and it returned me to the road. The deer are very active in this area.

Placed with permission of KySP Permit # 13107KDV08
