The Numismatist Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cache Effect: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Small Cache with a small "price"

Just a simple cache, easy to find, but the rules require some thought.

The idea behind this cache is to see how much you know about history. Inside this cache the FTF will find coins, each placed in a protective cardboard sleeve with details written on each one. 2 coins are from Canada, 1 from the States, 1 from Austria, and 1 from Honduras. There are a couple simple trade items too if you would rather something less challenging...

To trade for a coin you must have a coin to trade. It can be any year from any country. With this coin should be a little snippit of history that pertains to the year and country of that coin.

Please be creative. The last thing I want to see is 16 centennial coins stating it was Canada's birthday. Or 20 Victory cents stating the end of the war. I want to see interesting details we don't necessarily all know.

Lastly, If you did some research on the year/country you chose, share it in your post. Here's a list of what I have placed originally...

March 31, 1949. Newfoundland becomes Canada's 10th Province at a fraction of a second from April 1, April Fools' Day.

February 5, 1963. (Canada) The Diefenbaker government collapses over the missile issue and an election is called
(visit link)

July, 1995. (Honduras) First military officers charged with human rights abuses

1985 (Austria) antifreeze wine scandal (visit link)

May 21, 1956. (U.S.) tests the first aerial hydrogen bomb over Namu isle (visit link)

Good luck and happy Caching! I Look forward to seeing what you discover!

(Note: The home it is closest to is owned by my family and they are quite well aware of the cache's existence. You should not have to go on private property to access the cache.)
