There are two main ways into the falls, both from well marked
parking areas on Mountain Rd and Scenic Drive. My preference is to
enter from Mountain Rd as the first sight of the falls when you
round the corner is very impressive.
A good loop walk can be had by combining the Fairy falls track
with the Old Coach Rd.
The track into the falls is very good by Waitakere standards;
graveled most of the way though expect a few small patches of mud.
There are also a number of unbridged stream crossings.
The times posted for the walks are easily beatable by most
people, for example, Mountain Rd car park to the falls is listed as
1 hour, but was a comfortable 25 minute walk for myself.
The cache itself is located near the top of the falls, and
there is no need to leave the track to find it.
You are searching for a 1.2 l square Sistema painted in my usual
camo style.
Satellite coverage at the cache location was poor on the day I
placed this cache, 3 separate readings with over 250 averages were
used to obtain the given coordinates using a 60CSx.
Hopefully your unit will get you close enough that a cachers
sense will take over, however the clues provided are very detailed
and combined with the information on this page should provide you
with a smiley.
