One of the 14 caches in the now archived Shore to Shore Geochallenge
The Michigan Shore-To-Shore Trail begins at Lake Michigan in Empire and ends more than 200 miles east at Lake Huron near Oscoda.The trail was created and is maintained by the Michigan Trail Riders Association in cooperation with the DNR. Closed to motorized traffic, it passes through meadows and forests where possible and uses roadside shoulders where necessary.
The above coords are for the ENTRANCE to the Luzerne Trail Camp where you can find a parking spot nearby. This is a large campground with several "facilities" close by. Follow the trail, which starts just across the road, for a short distance (be on the lookout for “road apples”) and then BUSHWHACK TO: N44 35.398 W084 17.273 WHERE THE CACHE IS LOCATED. The cache, which used to be a small ammo can (until it was stolen)[;(], is now a plastic Tupperware type container located far enough away from the trail that you shouldn’t have any horsemen or horsewomen looking over your shoulder while you seek it. PLEASE be sure to replace the container and camo as you found it, or better!
