The coordinates will take you to a precise location at a popular
overlook along the South Rim Road and Rim Trail. Access is from the
Bright Angel trailhead area where you can catch the shuttle that
runs every 10-15 minutes, or hike the Rim Trail.
This location is said to be one of the most popular for watching
a sunset or sunrise. We caught the sunset on a clear, cold, and
windy March evening and it was fantastic. Be careful not to miss
the last shuttle back unless you have dark hike planned.
At the coordinates listed you will find a manmade structure
signed and dated by two dedicated young men who worked for the
National Park Service during the era of the 1st Manned Moon Landing
and the Woodstock Music & Art Fair.
To successfully prove you found the location please email us
this information. Do not answer the questions in your log here.
1) What are the names of the two men immortalized in
concrete?
2) What is the date inscribed?
3) What icon of that period is inscribed?
To help pinpoint this location we recorded an elevation of
6,947' with our Garmin Legend. Good luck and enjoy the awesome
views.
