After parking you need to enter the gardens through the gate. The blue sign at the gate that lists hours is outdated and being changed. The Gardens ARE open dawn to dusk 7 days a week--this was confirmed by direct contact with Preservation Delaware.
At published cords, there are two stone benches at the entrance to the cement pool. Standing between the benches facing the pool,

Description:
The garden at Gibraltar was designed by the remarkable Marian Cruger Coffin. She was a professional landscape architect who studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 1901 and 1904. She graduated in three years.
Hugh Rodney Sharp gave Coffin the commission to create the garden at Gibraltar. Its construction occurred from 1916 to 1923. The beautiful, simplistic, and geometrical layout of the garden is highlighted by a tea house, statuary, many sitting areas, and a rectangular pool.
The Marian Coffin Gardens at Gibraltar are administered by Preservation Delaware. It is open to the public from dawn until dusk. One hour tours are available by reservation for $5 per person.
