This cache was a group effort by some of the Southwest Colorado members of the Four Corners Geocaching Association (a.k.a. FoCoGeo). It is modeled after a very cool (and challenging!) multicache set by club members in the Farmington-Aztec-Bloomfield New Mexico area. We club members north of the border decided to create a similar multicache, along our own riverwalk park in Durango, Colorado. Enjoy views of the Animas River as you follow the clues to “Riverview Hide and Seek: The Sequel”.
The coordinates given are not the coordinates of the cache itself. It’s the location of the Visitor Information Center at Santa Rita (Gateway) Park. This is a good place to park while completing this multi-multicache. This cache is particularly well suited to bicycle travel, as all portions of the puzzle are on or near a paved riverside bike path.
The cache box is a 2-gallon ammo can with a combination lock on it. To open it, turn RIGHT 3 times around and stop at the 1st number. This number is hidden in geocache GCJX84, a geocache called “FoCoGeo Durango 1”, which is nearby. Then, turn LEFT one full turn, passing the 1st number to stop at the 2nd number. This number is hidden in geocache GCJX8B, a geocache called “FoCoGeo Durango 2”, which is also nearby. Finally, turn RIGHT and stop at the 3rd number. (You guessed it, that number is hidden in geocache CGJX8K, “FoCoGeo Durango 3”, near the others.) Pull the shackle and open the box!
Where is this cache at? The coordinates for “Riverview Hide and Seek: The Sequel” (and a clue) are also hidden inside the FoCoGeo 1-2-3 cacheboxes.
All waypoints for the multi-multicache are located along the river trail between the DoubleTree Inn on the north, and the Durango Mall on the south. You can do the 3 FoCoGeo Durango caches in any order, but it is probably most convenient if you do 1, then 2, then 3, especially if you’ll be doing them all in one day.
So go out and solve the 3 FoCoGeo Durango caches, get the coordinates for “Riverview Hide and Seek: The Sequel” and the combination to the lock on it, and THEN you can complete this cache!
