Walking by the... Series

Walking by the Cemetery

I had just move in to this beautiful city, and I was walking through the place, just to get around when I found this amazing church, St. Michael’s Church, with what seems to be, a really old cemetery! This type of stuff always fascinated me, so I was looking around and saw that a lot of the graves were from the XVIII century!

And that got me to think… As some of you may know, in the past a lot of people were buried alive, especially in the XVIII century, not for punishment, but because some people just fell asleep, and never woke up again. On that time the medical knowledge were not that great, so if someone when into coma (or something similar), the doctors didn’t knew the reason of that, so for them, the patient was dead! But the worst thing was not that, the worst thing was when you were in the coffin and suddenly you open your eyes, only darkness around you, the air starts to fail, and you can do nothing about it… can you image that?! And, when the coffins were open after several months, all the inside of the coffin was scratched, because you were trying your best to get out of there… creepy right?!

There are a lot of tales about this subject, but I believe that the best tale ever is from Edgar Allen Pöe, known as the master of the horror, where he wrote about his own greatest fear, being buried alive. Pöe normally wrote mystery and macabre tales, but this one, for me was the best of all, because when you are reading it, you almost can feel all the words that your eyes are seeing, you can feel the stress of the person that is inside the coffin, scream for his own life, trying to escape from that hell… it’s just terrific! And in this tale, The Premature Burial, Pöe show us all the preparations for his own burial, all the steps that he made when he was still alive, for the case that this horrible event happened with him. Definitely, Pöe deserves the name of Master of the Horror, because with this tale, even all the grown up will be afraid of the darkness!

About this cache.

This cache is situated near the church St. Michaels, near the cemetery too, is not in the middle of it, but it’s close. The container is small, slightly larger than a photographic roll, it only contains the stashnote, log book, and a small pencil. Please when you’re searching for the cache, remember that’s a holy place, and please respect all the living and dead ones, you may not believe in such things but there are people that believe and we all need to respect that! If you go by car, is better you don’t bring it to close to the church, because it will be hard for you to park in the zone.

I strongly advice to do this cache during the night, so you can feel the atmosphere, and who knows… you even can hear someone scratching the hell out of one coffin!!!! Take photos, use your imagination to create something different, and something related with the cache.

Just one more thing, let's see who can found the oldest grave in this cemetery! The oldest that I have found was from 1776!                                                                                                                             [Spoiler photo1] [spoiler photo2]
