Geocache Description:



Welcome to the 10th annual Wisconsin Geocaching Campout, held this year at Hartman Creek State Park, near Waupaca. This is our 3rd time visiting Hartman, and those attending in the past can attest that this park is a great spot for both camping and geocaching.

SPECIFICS

Where: Hartman Creek State Park
When: May 20-22, 2011
Caching Base: Beach Shelter
Group Camp: Group Camps 3 & 4

Costs: Attending the geocaching event and all activities is free. Note: Wisconsin State Parks require a fee for parking and daily/season passes are available at the park office or online.
Group Camping: $10 per family per night (Payment required in advance through the WGA Store)
Other camping: You can reserve a site at Hartman through ReserveAmerica. Be aware that sites tend to go quickly.

Registration:If you will be camping at the group site or attending the Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, please register here. If you don't currently have a WGA name tag, you can request one when you register.

Not camping? - The event is open to all to attend. You do not need to camp nor attend the entire weekend to attend. Stop on by Friday night, or anytime Saturday, or for the Pancake Breakfast on Sunday.

Event Photo Contest: Bring your cameras and shoot pictures during the event. We will be giving away a 2010 WGA Geocoin for the winning picture. More details to come.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Registration opens at 5PM at the beach shelter. You can sign in, pick up your shirts, and event & cache information, and meet up with your caching friends. We are planning on placing around 20 new permanent caches for the event in the park and surrounding areas.

FRIDAY NIGHT

Night Cache Contest - Plan on bringing your greatest light-up, laser driven, glow in the dark creations for our annual night cache contest. Be sure to let the folks at registration know that you have a night cache to hide when you sign in, and you will be provided with locations for you to hide your night cache.
At 8PM, finders will be given the coordinates along with a ballot for voting for their favorite night find. Be sure to get back to the shelter before 10PM to turn in your ballots.

SATURDAY MORNING

Fishing Derby - New this year, we will be having a fishing derby for anglers of all ages. Don't forget to bring your fishing gear!

Fishing Derby Details:

All anglers 16 and older must have a valid Wisconsin Fishing License to participate.

For safety reasons, All anglers under 16 participating in the Fishing Derby must be accompanied by an adult. No Exceptions.

Age brackets:
9 and under
10 - 15
16 and up

Winners determined by length of fish. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in both panfish (bluegill, sunfish, perch, etc) and gamefish (bass, northern, etc) categories.

The WGA will be providing the bait (Worms) so all you need is your fishing gear.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

CITO - Starting at 1 p.m., we will be meeting with park staff to clean up a garlic mustard infestation. A separate CITO event is listed here.

Family Activity - Meet between 1 and 1:30 at the shelter for a family/kid activity conducted by the internationally famous Mr. and Mrs. Cheeto.

Photo and Annual Meeting - At 5PM, we will meet back at the shelter for the group photo. Following the photo shoot, we will host our annual meeting, reviewing our progress for the year, upcoming events, and general ideas for improving the sport in Wisconsin. Your Board of Directors will be there to answer any questions you might have.

SATURDAY NIGHT

Campfire - After sunset, we will meet for a campfire at the group camp, including caching stories, fishing stories, other lies, and general carousing. Don't forget the marshmallows!

SUNDAY MORNING

Pancake Breakfast - Hotdogs_Off_Trails will once again host our Pancake Breakfast at the shelter from 8 to 11 AM. Meet at the shelter for all you can eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and juice. All proceeds going to the WGA. Cost is $5 for adults (13 years and older), $3 for children 6-12, and free for children under 6.
