This cache is located at Kalmia Gardens of Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina. NOTE: The cache was inspected and updated on November 7, 2004.
Kalmia Gardens of Coker College is an outdoor classroom and public garden, hosting many field trips from area schools as well as public programs, tours, symposea, plant sales, festivals and garden parties.
During the day the humans involved in these activities frequent the upper gardens, but come midnight the Swamp Gnome rules. Here he splashes in his swimming hole, naps on the picnic tables, has a midnight snack in the gazebo, and delights in strolling through the flower beds. On special occasions other gnomes visit. They consider it quite a treat to frolic through the lush gardens before dining in the gazebo on gnome delicacies prepared by the host. (No, you do not want to know what gnomes consider delicacies!)
REMEMBER GNOMES ARE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES. If you disturb his Garden of Delight, the Swamp Gnome will take his cache and never return.
THE CHALLENGE IS TO FIND THE CACHE WHILE PROTECTING HIS HABITAT. You do NOT have to move, dig up, or uncover anything. You do not need to leave the marked paths and picnic area or in any way disturb the gardens.
The search for this microcache requires more thought than action! Proceed with care and caution. The cache is meant for coins only and on November 8, 2004 contained the following:

The cache was placed with the knowledge of the administrators. Be sure to stop in at the main office of Kalmia Gardens in the Thomas Hart House built in 1820 and sign the guest register.
