This is an offset cache.
A 1923 photo by H.H. Bennett depicts an area that has become known locally as the Devil's Post Office. The rock formation and the small post office window are located at the starting point of this cache. The formation is located on private property so please do not trespass. This cache is designed to be accessed by water travel only.
In order to find the final cache location you will need to paddle at a bearing of 244 degrees, southwest along Mirror Lake, passing under the interstate that is nearly one hundred feet above you. The final is located on a fallen pine that is lying in the lake, 0.24 miles at the above referenced bearing from the starting point. The picture of the pine on your approach can be seen below.
The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Rebecca Green at Mirror Lake State Park. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager. The DNR Notification form and land manager information can be obtained here.
