The delightful little 'Round Church' at
Little Maplestead is one of only a handful of surviving round
churches in the UK. Although it is officially classed as a
round church it is actually only the nave that is round,
giving the building more of a 'keyhole' shape.
The earliest part of the current building dates from 1335
although it was extensively restored in the Victorian era.
The church has long been associated with the Knights
Hospitallers, the Order of St. John of Jerusalem and members of the
Order still process in full robes to an annual service on the first
Saturday of June every year.
The cache is a small green screw-top container about the size of
a 35mm film can. It is hidden on the footpath that runs alongside
the churchyard.
