Geocache Description:

This is an easy cache with regards to terrain. Finding it is another matter. There is ample parking and is accessible to children, etc. It is located in Lebanon Borough, almost in the center of town.

Our old cache was vandalized, then finally disappeared. So sad. However, the good thing is it gave the opportunity to devise a new cache. This one is called Lebanon Looters to honor the muggles who "looted" our cache. Hopefully, this one will not be as easily discovered by those pesky muggles.

Cache is a small, silver, keychain pill container. It was described on it's packaging as being able to hold ten aspirin tablets. LOG ONLY, please bring a writing instrument to sign the log.

Here's some interesting history about Lebanon Borough:

Lebanon is a Borough in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 1,065, which has jumped to 1,830, as of the Census Bureau's 2006 population estimate.

Lebanon was incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 26, 1926, from portions of Clinton Township, based on the results of a referendum held on April 20, 1926. Additional portions of Clinton Township were annexed in 1962

Lebanon is located north of the Round Valley Reservoir. The Borough was known in the early part of the 19th century as Jacksonville and later as Lebanonville, Lebanonville Depot and finally Lebanon, a station on the Central Railroad of New Jersey. The center of Lebanon has changed little in the past century. The Dutch Reformed Church is one of the oldest churches in the County. Records of the church begin in 1769, however, the church is cited as early as 1747.

Notable current and former residents of Lebanon include:

*Alvah A. Clark (1840-1912), represented New Jersey's 4th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1877 to 1881.

*James N. Pidcock (1836-1899), represented New Jersey's 4th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1885 to 1889.

While in park, check out the fence by the cemetery. Supposedly, this is a rare form of fencing. It was produced by Knox Fence Company. A 19th century enterprise, the fence company was located near the train station. It produced a novel wire fence that was made utilizing a machine that bent heavy gauge single strand wire into a very decorative pattern. There are at least two properties in Lebanon that still have this fence as well as two major reservoirs in upstate New York.
