Geocache Description:

The Betsy & Tacy cache is placed with the permision of the Betsy & Tacy Society. Ever since their first publication in the 1940's, the Betsy-Tacy books have been loved by each generation of young readers.

The cache is hidden near a replica of the bench where Betsy & Tacy often had a picnic and sat for hours imagining wonderful things. Betsy’s (i.e. Maude Hart Lovelace’s) story telling abilities were undoubtedly born on this bench. The cache is a Camo-taped 4 inch Mini M&M tube hidden reasonably well to prevent it from being muggled, but if you read the hint it should be a quick grab. I want the cache to be found and hopefully give people a reason to visit the nearby Betsy & Tacy House's. The visiting hours are generally only 1-3 PM on Saturdays afternoons, but check on this website for current info. The cache and the outside of the houses are available almost anytime, but please respect the neighbors.

I was born and raised in Mankato and grew up knowing about Maude Hart Lovelace, but I took the importance of her books for granted until our daughter was born. We spent many hours reading the Betsy-Tacy Books to our daughter when she was a child and have visited the Betsy & Tacy houses on several occasions. The guest book at the Tacy house shows that people visit from all over the USA, hopefully some of them are cachers!

Wow that was a Big Change of Direction!: GC2KW11
