Geocache Description:

The cache will take you past an old mining district, the Anniversary Mine Narrows, and finally some beautiful terrain in an open wash. This is a fairly easy cache that should be suitable for most people. All of the walking is done in a dry wash and the area is fairly well traveled. Plan on under a 5 mile round trip from the parking site to the cache.

To get to this site, follow the Northshore Road in Lake Mead NRA to mile marker 16 (N36 11.793 W114 41.236) where you will turn onto a dirt road. At the first fork in the road (N36 11.912 W114 41.076) take a left and follow this road all the way to the parking area (N36 12.766 W114 42.361). This area is also a good camping spot. The dirt road will take you past the Ore Care Mine sign and out of the Lake Mead NRA. The road should be manageable by most vehicles, but high clearance might be needed in some spots.

Once you park, simply walk down into the wash and follow it to the cache site. You will go past the old mining area, through the narrows (GPS will not work in here) and out into an open wash. When you reach a fork in this wash (N36 13.571 W114 41.716) proceed to the right.

The cache is a green ammo box hidden under some sandstone rocks on the side of a hill. The terrain in this area is very sensitive to footsteps (brittle), so try and be discrete so the position is not given away to others!

Please Note: There are several mines in this area and no mine shaft is ever completely safe to enter!
