Smile for the camera. Post the captured picture and you can score a log in Ottawa.
I have been wanting to do this in Ottawa for a while. What you will need are a BIG Canadian Flag like the ones on flag poles, a cell phone and a partner ready to capture the web cam picture of you waving the flag. I think there is enough resolution in the parliment hill cam to do this if you stand just behind the eternal flame and someone squints at the picture to make out the flag. It is just a great reason to visit the hill. For reference the URL of the web cam is: (visit link)

So get someone to be ready to grab the pic off the web, head downtown with your flag and give them a call. As this activity takes two to perform, both of you can log a find.

The powers that be only allow a single cam reference so traffic cams and others are no longer permitted.

The geek's first ever webcam cache! That's the geek - the solitary cacher waving its flag in the center of the photo. Many thanks to GPS Derek for hanging by his PC in TO for grabbing the image.

Yippie, my 600th cache find.

Not a great day to get a picture. Can barely see me and the flag didn't show up at all. Snow just wouldn't quit. Went back after my course was over and it was no better.

TFTC, haven't been here in years. Came for Canada Day a long time ago.

#1349 - On a mission to grab 8 different cache types in one day, to earn another square in the "Ontario BINGO Challenge" (GCZNY7).

Virtual - The 'Mad' Lookout (GCC7E3) by Tripper
Earthcache - Rideau Canal (GC1TKMW) by Weathervane
Wherigo - Inspector Clue-seau (GC1EAM0) by Garmin Gal & Tanglebones
Webcam - Wave The Flag (GCD838) by pepperway
Multi - UO Cache (GCHRD7) by Moule
Mystery - Grade 12 Math (GC1JJ6D) by JonAndJaymee
Letterbox - Ourses - Ursa Minor and Major (GC1W1Q7) by Weathervane
Regular - Made in Quebec (GC20QH0) by titelaine11

It's nice to finally have this cache off my to-do list, but it actually came in handy that I had not found it yet, so now I could claim it as part of this challenge. I arrived on-site and called my wife to get ready to "snap my picture", while I unfolded my flag. After the deed was done, I lay my flag at the base of the monument, and then "snapped" another picture by surfing to the webcam page on my iPhone, and then taking a screen capture. It worked great! Now I can bag other Webcam caches without the need to have another person at the other end of a phone in front of a screen. Granted, the iPhone capture is not the greatest, but I blame that on my excessive attempts at zooming in. Thanks for "placing" this one!
