I have been wanting to do this in Ottawa for a while. What you will need are a BIG Canadian Flag like the ones on flag poles, a cell phone and a partner ready to capture the web cam picture of you waving the flag. I think there is enough resolution in the parliment hill cam to do this if you stand just behind the eternal flame. For reference the URL of the web cam is: (visit link)

So get someone to be ready to grab the pic off the web, head downtown with your flag and give them a call. As this activity takes two to perform, both of you can log a find.

I will also accept pictures of you in one of Ottawa's traffic cams as there are a number of sidewalks also shown in the those cams but the flag is mandatory. The URL for these cameras is below:

I arrived on-site and called my wife to get ready to "snap my picture", while I unfolded my flag. After the deed was done, I lay my flag at the base of the monument, and then "snapped" another picture by surfing to the webcam page on my iPhone, and then taking a screen capture. It worked great! Now I can bag other Webcam caches without the need to have another person at the other end of a phone in front of a screen. Granted, the iPhone capture is not the greatest, but I blame that on my excessive attempts at zooming in. Thanks for "placing" this one! November 8 by tcort (444 found) I finally got this one after several failed attempts. In the past attempts, I had a computer program running at home automatically fetching the webcam shot periodically because I don't have a cell phone to call a friend to do it. On the first attempt, the traffic camera panned to look down another street and missed me. On the second attempt, I failed to get the timing right and I wasn't in the shot. Today I brought my netbook to an intersection that had wifi coverage. I pulled up the traffic cam image and made sure I got it right. Thanks for keeping this cache going for so long. November 7 by Wenniget (420 found) Took my husband with me to find this one. I am standing at the right of the first lamp-post to the immediate right of the flame - that tiny little white dot is the white on my flag that I was draping in front of me. The white in the foreground of me is my husband standing at the garbage can with his laptop to capture the picture - he had to put my coat over his shoulders and head to block the reflection from the sun so he could see when to save the picture.
