It IS possible to walk to the cache while staying on public property, but you would be going through people's back yards and there are no obvious property markers. Therefore, it is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED that you get yourself to the cache location via CANOE or KAYAK to avoid accidentally crossing over private property.
SWIMMING IS PROHIBITED
While today you can't see any obvious signs of there ever being a runway here, there indeed was one at this location many years ago. Nobody knows much about the runway, but there have been rumors about it over the years. One of the most interesting theories is that the runway was used by the US government during WWII to smuggle Germans into the country. Why they would do this I'm not sure, but it makes for some good story telling.

BEACHING OF RENTAL BOATS ON THE LAKE SHORE IS NOT ALLOWED. Once you are on the water, follow the bank to the right, but keep a eye on your GPS for precise directions. Pull ashore on the small sandy area at the waypoint listed. The cache is not far from there. The hint is VERY helpful and describes the exact location.
