Geocache Description:

If starting from the Highway-79 Trout Pond parking area your Geocaching adventure will take you along Milk Ranch Road, a well graded dirt and gravel surface with a rather gentle climb toward Azalea Spring Fire Road. If heading south on Azalea Spring Fire Road expect the first quarter mile to be somewhat steep but from there on it rises easily and undulates now and then to present a satisfying hike of about seven miles round-trip distance from the parking area mentioned above.

In early morning expect to see a deer herd grazing in the meadow to the west of the parking area. Numerous charred and fallen trees evidence the tragic Cedar Forest Fire of years gone by; however, Milk Ranch Road passes through two lovely oak groves that were not burned during the Cedar Fire. Note that Azalea Spring Fire Road eventually connects to Lookout Fire Road at the southern end. Also Azalea Glen Trail and Conejos Trail connect to the central section of Azalea Spring Fire Road. Note that mountain biking is permitted on fire roads but not on trails. Also dogs are not permitted on trails of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park.
