Geocache Description:

at this location you will be looking for a pill bottle painted black to blend into the shadows. the coords where taken over 1ooo times, and averaged with a plus or minus of 7 feet of accuracy, while I looked around at the bridge. it is at an obvious location, with some camo around it, and I have provided a hint that is a dead giveaway. the hide itself is unimpressive but the location is worthy of a visit.

at this location you will hopefully find a cache, and get to visit the only remaining covered bridge in Coshocton County. that being the Helmick Covered Bridge, 35-16-02#2. it was constructed in 1863 by John Shrake of Newark Ohio at a cost of $2,107 and named for Congressman William Helmick of Tuscarawas County. it is a two span multiple kingpost truss bridge spanning the Killbuck Creek with one span over the creek itself, and the other over an area prone to flooding, with a total deck length of 166 feet. at least that was the most mentioned length I saw while researching it, but I also saw it listed at 170 feet and 178 feet.  the bridge was posted to the National Register of Historic Places on June 18, 1975 and closed shortly after that in 1981 because it was no longer safe to carry vehicular traffic. at some point after that a fund raising campaign was begun to repair and save the bridge. the efforts of those citizens raised over $250,000 and the bridge was rebuilt in 1995-96. a large percent of the lumber used was new due to the sad shape the bridge had deteriorated to, but 20% of it was able to be reused in that construction. when construction was completed the bridge was opened back up to light traffic, and remains that way to this day.

most of the information in this description came from a website from the Coshocton County Visitors Bureau, along with a couple bridge sites to confirm that info.

this cache was inspired by the challenge cache "Under Cover Ohio Challenge" GC1KQ0J and should qualify for that. I enjoyed my time meeting the requirements of that challenge so much I had to hide a cache at a covered bridge myself to give something back, and this one was just close enough to do just that.

congratulations for the speedy first to find in just a little more than 1 hour on a cold, rainy, and raw day goes out to bhof53 on 11-28-15
