Geocache Description:


Join us at Big Cypress National Preserve for a camping geocaching event! Big Cypress National Preserve is home to numerious endangered species as well as other flora and fauna that uniquely identifies South Florida. This 2,400 square mile park provides a wonderful habitat and inviting setting to a camping event. The focus of this event is to meet fellow geocachers and share geocaching past, present, and future.

We had so much fun the past two years we decided to do it for a third time! This event will be held in Big Cypress National Preserve at the Bear Island Campground on February 24th and 25th, but we will be out there on the 23rd as well for those who want to make it a full weekend. The campground can easily be driven to by any vehicle on a pretty nice dirt road the entire way. Camping is primitive. There ARE formal restrooms (port o potties last year) and no water available. We'll continue updating as new information becomes available. :) Look forward to meeting new folks and see some friendly faces!
We will be having a Scavenger Hunt this year! Also, we will be bringing some soft drinks as well as hot dogs for lunch so if anyone would like to contribute anything else that would be great. Otherwise, it's BYOF (food). Stay tuned for more info as the date gets closer!
There are more caches in the Fakahatchee Strand/Picayune Strand area this year and we plan on putting out at least one or two more in these areas before the event.
