Geocache Description:

On October 29, 2005, the Geocaching world lost a good cacher and a great person when SherwoodForest crossed from this world into the next. This cache honors him.

I can't really put into words what it felt like to hear the news about SherwoodForest. Shock, denial, yes, I went through it all. But I realized very quickly that it was Dia de los Muertos. Everything happens for a reason - including me hearing this news on that day. And I understood that he may not be here with us on earth anymore, but he was never really gone as long as we keep him in our hearts.

It immediately came to mind to put a cache out in his honor, even if few of the people in this area knew him. And I filled it with things that reminded me of him.

Original contents of this cache inlcude: A penguin, because he has quite a few photos of plush penguins up on the GC site; a tree, because he used one for his sig item and because of his caching name; a smiley face pen and a smiley face pencil, in honor of every single one of the 1063 smileys he logged; a book "The Life Of The Forest", because it somehow seemed right.

No cache can fill the void he's left those of us who knew him, but we can remember him through something he enjoyed so much.
