Geocache Description:

This new area of Tynehead has just been opened. This cache actually long pre-exists the current development and was placed as a bush-wacking challenge long ago. Now this cache is quite accessible. Read the decription and logs to see what this area used to be like and compare it with today.

Previous description:

Tynehead Park is an amazing place, with trails, rivers, a fish hatchery and an off-leash area. This area is actually part of Tynehead, but has not been developed for recreation. The area is slated to be a golf course, but work is proceeding very sluggishly.

I have provided parking coordinates, because finding the single access to this area can be a challenge. No private property or fences should be crossed.

The paths are very clearly defined but extremely overgrown. You should wear long pants and be prepared for lots of cobwebs in the face. During the wet season rubber boots would be a good idea.

You'll have very little signal until very close to the cache so check your direction carefully before going into the bush (and remember to mark your car!). You'll come out in a field with paths cut through the grass. This is the work of The Mad Gardener. Although this looks like it would be private property it isn't. We've talked to The Mad Gardener, and he says it's public property, he just likes making paths. Enjoy this magical little area.

A bear has been living in the area; in fact I met him/her in Tynehead just a few days ago. Although he/she seemed lazy and good-natured, you might want to consider bear bells or bear spray, and watch your pets (and small children).

FTF prize is an unregistered TB.
