Here we will assist the Forest Service in transplanting native seedlings into larger pots and in tree planting of larger specimens into the ground, in areas that have been subject to fire. Actual tree planting may take place elsewhere and locations will be provided by the Forest Service based on need and total volunteer turnout on the day of the event.
Attendees should bring their own work or gardening gloves to wear. bring and/or wear appropriate comfortable clothing and footwear for the anticipated weather conditions. For example; boots or sneakers, hat, jeans or work pants (I suggest a long sleeve shirt, since sleeves can be rolled up as temperatures rise. It's also recommended to bring sunscreen and an extra jacket or sweatshirt. Don't forget to bring a snack and some water for yourself, though I will bring a large 10 gallon jug of water to share. Any tools needed will be provided by the Forest Service.
Parking permits (Adventure Pass) are not required at the meeting location. I recommend carpooling and making sure you have a full tank of fuel to begin the day, just in case you plan to go geocaching after. Plan a little extra time for the drive up, which could take up to 30 minutes from the 210 fwy.
Please try to post the number of people in your group when you log your "will attend" logs. This number will help the Forest Service plan for adequate parking. This is a public event, open to non-geocachers as well. The event coordinators are aware of and expecting our group of geocachers of all ages to join in the fun. I will have a sign or banner at a location within the facility for our group to congregate before, during and after the event. I encourage everyone attending to wear their favorite geocaching apparel.
